BRAJ BHUSHAN SANSKRIT COLLEGE, GAYA

Braj Bhushan Sanskrit college was established in 1904 by a deed of declaration under a religious trust named Braj Bhusan Istapurta Fund within a large compound of a Thakurbari . Initially it was started as a Sanskrit pathshala where the Vedas and Hindu shastras were taught by the scholors of the said subjects upto Post-Graduate level.Mainly the Vedas,the upnishads,the vedants,the mimansa and the other acharas-smrities,the dharmasmrities and the vyakarnas,the kavyas and the alankaras,jyotish and ayurveda were taught to the student.presently excluding the ayurveda all the above said Sanskrit granthas are taught here.execpt it some modern and general subjects like English,hindi, social science and mathematics subjects are also taught to the students with above mentioned traditional subjects. In starting days the examinations of the college were conducted through the Bihar-Bengal-Utkal Sanskrit samiti.this college has a glorious tradition of knowledge and shastratha.In the field of advancement of ancient Indian knowledge this college has so many remarkable contributions.This college became the statutory college of K.S.D.S. University by the first statue of the said university in 1960. After inforcement of Bihar University act in 1976 this college is being guided by the rules of Bihar University act 1976 amended up to date.
